Heather got her first camera for her 8th birthday and she’s been hoarding family photos ever since. With a background in Theatre Arts and 10 years playing the role of a 9-to-5er in Corporate America, Heather found her true calling in 2009 when she was cast in the 24-hour a day reality series known as “Motherhood.” It was in this new role that Heather discovered her heart for new moms and babies. Driven by a passion for brand-new families and a long-lost love of photography, Heather McGinnis Photography was born in 2010. A focus on photographing newborns soon led to photographing families of all ages & stages as well as commercial photography work in recent years. Heather’s photography is genuine, joyful, and tender, and her goal every time she picks up a her camera is to create images that tell a story about what she sees through her lens.
Heather has been voted Greensboro’s Favorite Photographer in 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 by the readers of Triad Moms on Main and Greensboro’s Favorite Momprenuer in 2015 & 2016. She is a proud member of Professional Photographers of America and the National Association of Professional Child Photographers. Heather is passionate about giving back and volunteers her time and talent to the Tiny Sparrow Foundation and Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.
As for Heather, personally? Lazy afternoons are her guilty pleasure, funny movies are her favorite, and she wears flip-flops 12 months a year. Heather met her husband & partner-in-crime/life/business during freshman year of college, and he’s been holding her hand & making her laugh ever since. In 2009, their beautiful baby girl was born and in 2016, their new baby boy joined the party & life has never been sweeter! Heather starts each day with a BIG cup of coffee and a VERY grateful heart.
