I’m so excited to be taking part in a really cool project with a group of some amazing professional photographers who also specialize in newborn, baby & family photography. It’s called “Project 12″ and each month we have an assignment to capture an image that reflects our interpretation of a certain theme; this month’s theme is “FRESH.” There’s really only one rule and that is that you have to capture a new image inspired by the theme, you can’t just pull one of your old images out of the vault. So, many things came to mind as I thought about this month’s theme: fresh air, fresh flowers, fresh food, getting fresh, the fresh prince of bel aire, freschetta frozen pizzas… lots and lots of different, random things. : ) But the one thing that kept coming up over & over again in my head was ‘fresh faced.’ And as those words kept recurring in my head, so did a single image: that of my baby girl, first thing in the morning, fresh-faced, bright-eyed, and bushy-tailed inside her footie pajamas and her crib. Going in to greet her, and see her greet the day, is one of my very favorite things. So, that’s what I decided to capture for this month’s “fresh” image. This photo was taken specifically for Project 12: FRESH at 8:37:55am on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Yes, our baby girl really does sleep in that late. I don’t know what we did to deserve such luck, but it’s pretty great, I’m not gonna lie. The first theme of the year is “Fresh”. Of course the first thing that came to my head was fresh kids! I was thinking of my boys sticking out their tongues at me while trying to take their picture, but then I photographed this lovely 9-month old last week and all I saw was “fresh”! Fresh new teeth, fresh view of the world, and sometimes a fresh face. I love this one because you can see her front teeth popping through her gums, and she has such a sweet face. It also kind of looks like she is pointing at me and laughing, also fresh!
